A2EI at Innovate for Climate in Berlin

We had enriching discussions on advancing climate action across finance, markets, policy, and technology at Innovate for Climate in Berlin.

Stefan Zelazny, Managing Director of the Access to Energy Institute and lead on the Prospect project, emphasized the importance of digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV) for precise impact assessments during the panel titled “Unlocking Carbon Market Potential: The Impact of Transparent and Efficient End-to-End Digital Systems.” He showcased how innovations like Prospect promote transparency, efficiency, and growth within the carbon market. The panel highlighted essential components of a comprehensive digital ecosystem for carbon markets, including carbon asset registries, digital MRV solutions, trading platforms, and metadata layers like CAD Trust. Stefan also shared insights on innovative approaches for climate change mitigation during a dynamic workshop for young innovators.

Additionally, the A2EI/Prospect team participated at the World Bank’s Accelerating Sustainable and Clean Energy Access Transformation (ASCENT) booth, where we explained the setup and benefits of the open-source data platform, Prospect, to interested stakeholders. Thomas Duveau, CSO of the Access to Energy Institute, provided the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) team with a briefing on Prospect for the ASCENT program. Prospect, developed in collaboration with GET.invest, automates the collection, aggregation, analysis, and visualization of data from modern renewable energy solutions, significantly simplifying energy and climate tracking.

We also engaged in important discussions with diverse stakeholders about the global carbon market, digital MRV, emissions trading, and the path to net-zero emissions. We look forward to continuing these conversations and are excited to support stakeholders in adopting innovative approaches to digital monitoring and reporting, ultimately making carbon markets more transparent, efficient, and inclusive.
