Live webinar on Cicada
The A2EI, together with The EnAccess Foundation and Okra Solar, invite you to join the live webinar to learn about Cicada: the Open Source IoT Comms Module – an Open Source communications module specifically created for rural energy access organizations that operate in remote communities.
Cicada is the IoT communications module with GSM & WiFi capabilities that allows Energy Access appliances like mini-grids and SHS to send and receive information about energy use. It enables energy service providers to expand their services to rural communities that traditionally have been hard to reach.
Before Cicada was developed by Okra Solar, existing off-the-shelf solutions were not rugged enough to perform in low-connectivity environments. This prompted Okra Solar to develop an Open Source solution, so that other companies on the same mission could use and customize the technology to their own needs.
Recently, A2EI discovered that the Cidada GSM module could work for one of their upcoming projects – but it requires a bit of customization for their particular use case.
In this webinar, Reinier van Kampenhout (Senior Firmware Developer) will explain why A2EI opted for Cicada and not a proprietary IoT comms solution, while Georg Lippitsch (Firmware Engineer) from Okra Solar will cover the details of Cicada’s development and provide a live demo on how to get started with integration.
Vivien Barnier, CEO of EnAccess, will be moderating the event.
Who Should Join?
People with a technical background in Software and Hardware Development will find this webinar especially interesting because we will be doing a deeper dive into Cicada’s specifications & features. However, anyone that wants to stay current regarding the latest technology available in our Energy Access sector is encouraged to join.
