Partnership to support productive-use appliance expansion

3 Mar 2026

We are excited to partner with CLASP, an international NGO, and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet Inc. (Global Energy Alliance), to support expanding the use of energy-efficient, income-generating appliances in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The collaboration will see the customisation of Prospect as dMRV platform for CLASP and the Global Energy Alliance's Productive Use Financing Facility (the Financing Facility) 2.0, a catalytic initiative that increases access to energy-efficient, income-generating appliances across Africa. The $6.1m Financing Facility 2.0 expansion builds on a successful two-year pilot, proving the market for productive-use appliances. It will support businesses, farmers, and communities in Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Kenya to acquire up to 10,000 energy-efficient productive use appliances – such as solar fridges, pumps, and mills – through grants, subsidies, and technical support.

Prospect will significantly accelerate eligibility verification through automated checks against e.g. system and customer data, and sales and installation records. Custom dashboards will provide real-time tracking of sales and installation status, remote monitoring of systems, and display program impact metrics – such as income generated, customers served, water pumped, and CO2e mitigated. This increases transparency, strengthens monitoring and evaluation, and allows for feedback loops to refine incentives.

We are proud to provide a robust, comprehensive dMRV platform to support CLASP and Global Energy Alliance's efforts to mitigate CO2, strengthen agricultural value chains, and create green jobs across Sub-Saharan Africa.

Siena Hacker, Financing Facility project manager, says: "Prospect is integral to the Productive Use Financing Facility's success as an effective results-based financing (RBF) program. Robust verification is the foundation of any RBF initiative, and Prospect provides us with greater confidence in the sales we support. By allowing us to track impact in real-time across multiple countries, the platform streamlines the verification process for CLASP and our participating companies alike."

About the Productive Use Financing Facility

The Financing Facility is an innovative program that provides grants, subsidies, and technical assistance to suppliers and distributors to lower appliance prices and reach more customers. This makes it easier for small businesses, entrepreneurs, and households to buy energy-efficient technologies, such as solar water pumps, mills, and refrigerators, at favorable prices.

This program is supported by the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet.
