A2EI at the Africa Energy Summit

We enjoyed inspiring discussions with African government officials, development partners, and private sector stakeholders at the Africa Energy Summit in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – focusing on Mission300 to provide electricity to 300 million people in Africa by 2030.

A key takeaway from the summit has already been the critical importance of data-driven, transparent, and digital impact assessments for tracking the progress of Misson300. The strong interest surrounding the digital monitoring, reporting and verification tools of our data platform Prospect (developed in collaboration with GET.invest) underscores its potential to reduce transaction costs while facilitating reporting and optimizing subsidy programs.

We especially enjoyed the meeting of Malama Chileshe, COMESA Secretariat programme coordinator for the ASCENT regional energy access acceleration platform and Thomas Duveau, Chief Strategy Officer of the A2EI. The best practices developed by COMESA for the digital monitoring of The World Bank’s ASCENT programme, which is leveraging the Prospect platform, offer an ideal blueprint for the digital impact assessment and tracking of Misson300.

We look forward to further collaborating with policymakers and sector stakeholders to promote data-driven decisions for sustainable electricity access across Africa!
